Energy Southeast Completes $866.6 Million Prepaid Energy Transaction with Missouri River Energy Services

Energy Southeast, a Cooperative District, has completed an $866.605 million prepaid energy transaction with Missouri Basin Municipal Power Agency, doing business as Missouri River Energy Services (MRES). The transaction was financed through Energy Southeast’s 2026 Series A Energy Supply Revenue Bonds.

The bond proceeds will finance the prepayment of a 30-year supply of electricity that Energy Southeast will sell to MRES under a long-term Power Supply Contract. Energy deliveries are scheduled to begin February 1, 2027, and continue through January 31, 2057.

The prepaid energy structure is designed to provide MRES with a reliable, long-term supply of electricity at prices that reflect a discount from its existing energy costs. Savings generated through the transaction will benefit MRES and support its ability to provide reliable and economical electric service to the communities it serves.

Morgan Stanley Capital Group Inc. will provide energy management services for the transaction, with Morgan Stanley Finance LLC serving as the funding recipient. Morgan Stanley guarantees certain obligations associated with both the energy management and funding components of the transaction.

The transaction continues Energy Southeast’s expansion of its energy prepayment program and its efforts to help public power utilities across the country secure long-term energy supplies at competitive prices.

Energy Southeast, A Cooperative District, is Public Power’s Partner in Energy Prepayment.
